Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Ideal for: Mild to moderate anxiety
How It Works
A colorless, odorless gas delivered through a small mask placed over your nose. You breathe normally and begin to feel relaxed and at ease within minutes.
Nitrous oxide is our most popular comfort option. It takes the edge off anxiety while keeping you fully conscious and able to communicate.

Oral Conscious Sedation
Ideal for: Moderate to severe anxiety
How It Works
A prescription sedative pill (typically a benzodiazepine) taken about an hour before your appointment. You'll feel deeply relaxed — some patients have little to no memory of the procedure.
You'll need a driver to bring you to and from your appointment. Plan to rest at home for the remainder of the day.

Is dental sedation safe?
Yes. Both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation have long safety records when administered by trained dental professionals. We review your medical history and medications before recommending any sedation option.
Will I be unconscious?
No. Both options keep you conscious and able to respond to questions. You'll simply feel very relaxed and at ease. General anesthesia (full unconsciousness) is not offered at our office.
Can I eat before sedation?
For nitrous oxide, normal eating is fine. For oral conscious sedation, we typically ask patients to avoid eating for several hours beforehand. We'll give you specific instructions when you schedule.
How much does sedation cost?
Sedation fees vary depending on the type and duration. We'll discuss costs transparently during your consultation. Some insurance plans cover sedation for certain procedures.
Who is a good candidate for sedation?
Patients with dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, difficulty getting numb, or those needing extensive work in a single visit are excellent candidates. We'll evaluate your health history to confirm the right option for you.
